Description:
The Northern Ireland Census 2021 Comprehensive Microdata (C21CM) database is a standalone, de-identified database comprised of 98.5% of Census 2021 person and household data for the population of Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland Census 2021 collected information on the usually resident population of Northern Ireland on Census Day (21 March 2021).
The C21CM contains similar variables to the Northern Ireland Mortality Study (NIMS) dataset – but is limited to Census variables only. The 98.5% sample reflects the exclusion of wholly imputed records from the Census. Purpose:
The C21CM has been developed in order to advance research across a range of
themes. The C21CM can offer a comprehensive evidence base for policy development
and decision making as well as the monitoring of public policy in Northern
Ireland. It can do this by allowing a number of research questions to be
considered. These include, for example, assessing the changing landscape of
diversity in Northern Ireland (national identity, ethnicity, religion, country
of birth and language knowledge), a demographic and occupational profile of
self-employed workers in Northern Ireland and comparing individual and household
characteristics of stay-at-home parents to working parents.
